CBS New York joins Paramount VetNet’s Coffee with Vets for their #BetterTogether Community Mission

In early April 2023, the Paramount Veterans Network hosted their signature Coffee with Vets joined by the Total Rewards Team and CBS New York at the CBS Broadcast Center. Cindy Hsu, proud military family member, and an Emmy Award-winning anchor and reporter for CBS New York, joined the event in this letter-writing initiative. “Cindy and the VetNet team asked employees to write letters to our soldiers serving out of New York. Not many could say no to Cindy, a natural recruiter, when asked to send a letter overseas to our troops,” says Chris Barrett, VetNet Member and Marine Corps Vet. With Cindy’s help along with the Paramount Total Rewards Team, the letter this event collected hundreds of letters to send to our nations military serving abroad.

Captain Justin B. Rios was in attendance engaging with employees and talking about his experience with the unit and how much receiving letters from “home” meant so much to him and his fellow Harlem Hellfighters.

The event is an ongoing initiative, where Paramount Global employees write letters to the Harlem Hellfighters 369th Sustainment Brigade out of New York who are currently deployed in Kuwait. The letter-writing initiative was created with Veterans in Media & Entertainment and several media and entertainment organizations in 2021. To date, Paramount VetNet has organized several letter-writing events where thousands of letters were written to soldiers who are deployed.

“NEW YORK -- CBS New York recently teamed up with the Paramount Veterans Network for our #BetterTogether community mission.

Cindy Hsu got a chance to meet several colleagues who are part of the veterans network, which helps veterans transition back into civilian life through mentoring, education and internships that often result in jobs at the company.

The veterans, along with other employees, wrote letters to local soldiers, known as the Harlem Hellfighters, who are currently serving in Kuwait.”
